Non-retail businesses can find promotion challenging during the holiday season. At RESPONSE! we have worked out holiday promotion guidelines that keep our sales high throughout the season which we wanted to share with you.
Holiday Guide For Non-Retail Businesses
1. Publish Your Holiday Hours
Make sure your customers know that you business is open. Add your holiday schedule to all your emails and post them prominently on your Facebook Page so they know that they can still call and you and your staff are available.
2. Step Up Your Promotion
Your customers are very busy over the holidays. This does not mean they will not buy from your business but it does mean you may have to promote more than usual to get their attention. We recommend doing a little extra throughout the holiday season.
3. Fun Up For The Season
There is competition for your customers’ attention so you remember to make your promotion fun and interesting to be in keeping with the season. Holiday Sales/Specials and goodwill events such as Toys For Tots Day (in exchange for discounts or services), or a Visit From Santa will make your business part of the Holiday Season, rather than fighting against it.
4. Provide Coupons for the New Year
Have the customers who participate in your holidays promotions to come back in January by giving them special incentives dated for the New Year. You can also mail out postcards to your customers with special incentives right after Christmas Day or New Year’s Day to drive in extra business.
5. Decorate Your Website and Social Media Profiles
Depending on how your website is built there are plug-ins available for “holiday decorating” that can be installed in your website in an hour or less. Talk to your web designer about turning some of these on as well as showcasing holiday specials. The novelty may even cause some viral buzz for your business online.
Hope these tips help and have a great holiday season!
